Alice Dudley
Acoustic/Melancholic
"On Repeat feels like a fabergé egg of melancholy. It's wonderfully simple instrumentation takes a back seat to Alice's delicate vocals"
The artist
Alice is an acoustic artist that's very much prolific on the local scene. Alice rules that evening in with a glass of red contemplating life and all its intricacies. An Intraspective camp fire artist if ever there was one.
The song
On Repeat starts with a solitary acoustic guitar that sets the tone for this pretty little melancholic dream. A laid back bass and subdued drum beat accompany Alice's sentiment of "I'm so fed up with my own company". We have all felt that in some way or another which really speaks to Alice's songwriting. Moving through the verse brings you to a rollercoaster of 'doo doo doo's' that ascend and come down to earth culminating in a minor key change (there are definitly not enough switches like this in popular music nowadays).
The verdict
'On Repeat' feels like a fabergé egg of melancholy. It's wonderfully simple instrumentation takes a back seat to Alice's delicate vocals. A gorgeous piece of music that will take your breath away and leave your knees shaking.
If you like...
If you like the Intraspective views of Radiohead but maybe a little more mellow, a beautiful voice akin to Sinéad O'Connor and a solid acoustic guitar backing then this will be right up your alley.
